JHP Volunteer Opportunities:
VOLUNTEER WITH JHP
JHP’s volunteers are vital to running the enrichment activities offered to our program participants and a variety of experiences and professional expertise that are beneficial in working with the people we serve. Volunteer assignments range from 1-day events to ongoing weekly commitments. JHP strives to make volunteering an enjoyable and worthwhile experience at all of our sites. We can also provide supervision for Certified Rehabilitation Counselors needing practicum hours.
Types of Volunteers:
JHP Inc. values those who choose to make a commitment to our people and programs. We understand that not everyone has the time to devote to weekly volunteering and appreciate those who can only commit periodically or for a daily event. Due to the nature of the work, we have different expectations from each type of volunteer.
Day Volunteers:
Day Volunteers commit to a one-time event happening at one of our facilities or at an off-site location. These activities may include but are not limited to: fundraising events, promotional events, holiday parties, shelter program parties, community involvement activities, and local day trips.
Day Volunteers can play a variety of roles while participating in an event. JHP matches volunteers with the roles they request based upon availability. Examples of duties can include: preparing meals for shelter residents, assisting with shelter maintenance and improvements, childcare, leading children’s activities, managing the sign-in/sign out table, overseeing refreshments, and assisting people with skill development.
Day Volunteers may not be with any of JHP’s minor residents (under 18) unless the minor’s parent is present or the volunteer is supervised by Program Staff.
JHP can provide documentation of volunteer hours for Day Volunteers. It is the Volunteer’s responsibility to let the Volunteer Coordinator know that documentation is needed.
PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS:
Program Volunteers make a commitment to be involved with JHP’s programs on a consistent basis. The specific time commitment is agreed upon between the Volunteer and the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers may be involved on a daily/weekly/monthly schedule, or placed on a call list for as-needed positions.
JHP will document and keep records of all Program Volunteer hours. It is the Volunteer’s responsibility to ask for documentation of hours from the Volunteer Coordinator.
